Maile Aihua Young is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Bioethics and Health Humanities at the University of Texas Medical Branch, and incoming Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies at San Diego State University. 

Their research places Asian American studies in conversation with public health cultures and the study of infectious diseases. Other areas of interest include Asian American film and video, feminist science and technology studies, and race and literary formalisms. 

Maile received a Ph.D. in English with a designated emphasis in Asian American Studies from University of California, Santa Barbara. They also hold a B.S. in Public Health and Literature from American University.
